TALK BY DR CAITRIONA LEAHY ON ISABEL NOLAN
As part of PROBE 2017: Research Uncovered at Trinity College Dublin
Friday 29 September 2017, 6.30pm
The Douglas Hyde Gallery is delighted to share details of this upcoming talk on Isabel Nolan by Dr Caitriona Leahy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Germanic Studies, Trinity College Dublin.
Isabel Nolan's solo exhibition Calling on Gravity comprises suspended and floor-based sculptures, portrait paintings, drawings, photographs and a rug. These new works unsettle simple certainties such as up and down, high and low through her material exploration of metaphor, and how we bring the world into meaning.
PROBE, a collaboration between Trinity College Dublin and Science Gallery Dublin, is part of European Researchers’ Night, taking place in cities across the continent on 29 September. On the occasion of this one-day festival, and on the penultimate day of the exhibition, Dr Caitriona Leahy will give a talk at 6.30pm, in which she will consider the concept of research in relation to the art gallery and Nolan's practice.
Admission is free and all are welcome; there is no need to book a place.
