The Douglas Hyde Gallery has long since won its place as a jewel in Ireland’s artistic crown.
- Sheila Pratschke, Chair of The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon

I have had some of my most rewarding encounters with an artwork at The Douglas Hyde Gallery. I don’t know of another situation where a combination of the unique architecture of the gallery, coupled with consistently thoughtful curation and collaboration, come together to allow a new way of seeing and understanding.
- Willie Doherty, artist and board member

The DHG is unlike any other exhibition space. I've seen it expand in the most extraordinary way to accommodate the breadth of sprawling, driven installations and contract to cradle works of terrible, beautiful intimacy. I've long lost track of the number of shows I've seen that have forced me to re-fashion my brain, my self, to the world made new by strange and generous artworks. To live so close to this ostensibly brutal gallery that provides a vital forum for work of immense sensitivity and consequence is a gift.
- Isabel Nolan, artist

The Douglas Hyde gallery is the benchmark of Contemporary Art's presence in Irish culture. Over 40 years it has diligently cultivated a public sphere; an Ireland where anyone can have contemporary art in their life. And as such, it manifests a society that is inquisitive, engaged, open-minded, and diverse. That's the Ireland I want to live in, and The Douglas Hyde Gallery helps make that Ireland a possibility. It really is a very, very important place for us all.
- Gerard Byrne, artist
