QUESTIONS OF TRAVEL

10.00

Published in 2009, Questions of Travel brings together images and ideas in a fluid and intuitive way; there is a thread - or perhaps a tone, a mood - that connects them, but it may not be immediately apparent. This book is similar in that respect to its predecessor, The Bridge.

'A dynamic encounter with art might be described as a way of travelling, of allowing thought and feeling to move out in new directions, encountering fresh perceptions, ideas, and understanding. Paradoxically, though, art is also founded on stillness and familiarity - on a return to an inner place that is comfortable and loved. It is this relationship between the known and the unknown that makes an engagement with good art, whatever its form or character, so enriching and enlivening.'
From the foreword by John Hutchinson.

This publication, by John Hutchinson, includes images from previous exhibitions in the Gallery which relate to the text.
