Leaves & Papers 23
Hidden tells the story of women, real and imagined, whose sense of happiness and fulfilment did not always coincide with normal cultural expectations. While this often caused difficulties and suffering that proved hard to overcome, the enjoyment of freedom, or at least of its prospect, seems to have provided its own satisfaction.
As in previous books in this series, its sections are juxtaposed in much the same way as a group exhibition or an album of songs is put together - they are set side by side, distinct and within their own space, but with something in common.
Although Hidden is an independent publication, it is also intended to complement the exhibition of Turkmen and Uzbek children's clothes that is on view in Gallery 2 at the time of publishing.
Dimensions: 184 x 108 mm. 88 pages. 5 colour plates. Paperback with printed paper dust jacket.
