Artist Talk: Garrett Phelan, in conversation with Georgina Jackson
Thursday 23 May 2019, 6.30pm–7.30pm

FREE THOUGHT FM talks about the idea of ‘free thought’. The project also asks about access to education and explores class inequality in Dublin.

Access to educational resources is unequal. The current system needs to change. FREE THOUGHT FM is an open forum where these issues can and will be explored.” (1)

FREE THOUGHT FM is a multi-part project that spreads beyond the walls of the gallery, including: an exhibition at the DHG, that anybody is free to visit; a live radio broadcast over 30 days (25 March–23 April 2019) from the gallery, where Garrett Phelan and co-hosts hold conversations with different people about class inequality and access to education in Dublin; and a marketing campaign that offers straightforward information about alternative routes to education, executed through posters across the city and a social media campaign.

To mark the conclusion of FREE THOUGHT FM, Garrett Phelan will be in conversation with DHG Director Georgina Jackson about the successes and failures of the exhibition, and social inequality in Dublin.
